Community-based development organizations, or CBDOs, serve the important missions of revitalizing, developing, empowering, and reinvesting economically disadvantaged communities across the United States. This listing contains two datasets: (1) a public survey dataset that reflects anonymized responses to the sixth national census survey--conducted in 2022--of these organizations; and (2) a set of statistical outputs summarizing these survey responses.
These data were collected as part of the Grounding Values Study, a multi-stage research project exploring the CBDO field. Products from this study, including products leveraging these survey data as well as products from other phases of this study, are available at: https://www.urban.org/projects/grounding-values-cbdos. Additional details describing the collection and analysis of these data, along with the underlying survey instrument, are available in the technical report at: https://www.urban.org/research/publication/state-community-based-development-organizations-technical-report.
